Andrew Burke (Head Coach)
Andrew Burke is entering his fifth season as the head coach of the Bryn Athyn Lions. He has an overall record of 106-39-1, with a DVCHC conference record of 44-7-0. Coach Burke has lead the Lions to four straight DVCHC National Division final appearances. Since Burke has taken over behind the bench, the Lions have won DVCHC championships in 2012 (American Division), 2014 and 2015 (National Division). He has also led the Lions to two straight ACHA Division III National Tournaments as the Number 1 seed in the Atlantic Region in 2014 and 2015. In 2014, the Lions advanced the National Semi-Finals before losing seven to six in overtime to the eventual National Champion, Michigan State University 7-6. In 2015, the Lions won their first two games in the round robin before losing five to four to Calvin College in their third round robin game. Before coaching at Bryn Athyn, Andrew Burke attended University of Massachusetts-Boston while playing for their NCAA Division III team from 2008-2012. Burke appeared in 74 games, while scoring 17 goals and having 33 assists during his career at school. He was also a four-year member of the Dean’s list and ECAC All-Academic team at U-Mass-Boston. Before attending U-Mass- Boston, Burke played for the Philadelphia Little Flyers, which played in the Atlantic Junior Hockey League. He played in 128 games and recorded 28 goals and 45 assists for a total of 73 points.
Joe Deptula (Assistant Coach)
Joe Deptula is entering his first season as the assistant coach of the Bryn Athyn Lions. Before coming to Bryn Athyn College, Deptula was the assistant coach of the Billings Bulls in the American Western Hockey League and the head coach of the Billings Bulls of the North American 3 Hockey League, which are both a Tier-3 junior hockey league located throughout the country. He was the assistant coach for the 2012-13 and 2013-14. He was the head coach for the 2014-15 and had an overall record of 25 wins, 16 losses, 2 overtime losses and 4 shootout losses. The Bulls ended up losing in the first round of the playoffs. Last season, Deptula took a year off from coaching to take care of personal matters but has returned behind the bench for the Lions this season. Before joining the coaching ranks, Deptula attended Western New England College while playing for their NCAA Division III team from 2008-2012. Deptula had 9 goals and 9 assists for a total of 18 points in 84 career games at Western New England. Joe was the captain of the team for his junior and senior year at college. Before attending Western New England, Joe played three seasons, from 2005-2008, in the Atlantic Junior Hockey League for four different teams. He played for the Laconia Leafs, Walpole Express, Hartford Jr. Wolfpack and the Philadelphia Little Flyers. He played in over 124 games while scoring 5 times and adding 19 assists for a total of 24 points.
